FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hawai‘i Health Information Exchange
expands video resources for healthcare providers

Honolulu, Hawai‘i—Over the past 15 years, Hawai‘i Health Information Exchange (HHIE), a nonprofit organization designated as the state’s official health information exchange, has developed and refined a robust, reliable and secure system to enable providers to seamlessly access and exchange patient data from Hawai’i’s major healthcare providers.

The system unites disparate medical record systems from nearly 30 of Hawai'i’s healthcare organizations to help providers gain access to valuable information to make important clinical decisions, reduce redundancy and medical costs, and ultimately deliver better outcomes for their patients.

With support from the state Department of Human Services Med-QUEST Division, HHIE has created informational videos to help Medicaid and other providers obtain the most value from the information exchange by using all of its features. The educational digital materials will help providers and their staff more effectively integrate Hawai’i Health Information Exchange into their healthcare practices.

“We listened carefully to providers who use the information exchange and then identified areas where we could offer the most support,” said Francis Chan, HHIE CEO. “Their feedback was valuable in helping us create our new video series. It was a collaborative partnership with providers. We are grateful to the Department of Human Services Med-QUEST Division for the generous support.”

The videos may be accessed and viewed on the HHIE website here. Among the topics included in the videos are:

  • Getting Started with Notify and Community Health Record
  • Searching for Patients
  • Viewing Patient Encounters and Results
  • Viewing Medication History
  • Viewing Discharge Summaries
  • Accessing Electronic Referrals and Configuring Notifications
  • Monitoring Referrals in the Electronic Referrals Network
  • How to Reset your Password on the Health eNet
  • Viewing Real-Time Clinical Results
  • Viewing Insurance Information
  • Review Data Sharing Participants/Data Matrix
  • Accessing the Notify Platform
  • Deep Link in Notify

Two videos on HHIE’s new registration portal are also available on the HHIE website. “We would gladly welcome feedback from providers so that we can continually update our digital sources and ensure HHIE continues to be a valuable partner with providers in delivering quality care for our community,” Chan said.
