Hawaii Health Information Exchange Update

New hospital data available through HHIE:
We are excited to share that we have connected 23 out of 23 acute care hospitals across the Hawaiian Islands!
We reached this milestone by re-establishing connections with Kona Community Hospital and Kohala Hospital and by establishing new connections with Wahiawa General and Kuakini Hospital.
Additionally, data from Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific will be available in the coming months.

Where to find the hospital data: Kona Community Hospitals and Kohala Hospital data will reside in the results tab with Queen’s Health Systems, Castle Medical Center, and select Elation providers. Wahiawa General and Kuakini Hospital patient encounter data can be viewed in the Encounters tab and Facesheets tab.

Clinical data from The Veteran’s Administration, Department of Defense, Kaiser Permanente, Maui Health Systems and Hawaii Pacific Health will continue to be available via an external query in the Documents tab while Malama I Ke Ola will continue to reside in the Documents tab as permanent data as well as Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific data.

Update on our solutions:
We are excited to offer our real-time notifications tool called Notify that works in conjunction with the Community Health Record to provide a customized delivery of patient encounters to alert on your chosen patient cohort. Using the tool, providers can easily manage patient encounters from a single portal to provide the necessary care coordination to reduce ED utilization and readmissions. The tool can improve the quality of care for Hawaii’s people and reducing healthcare costs.

If you are interested in learning more about our real-time notifications tool, please reach out to Dr. Rebecca Burton at rburton@hawaiihie.org with your inquiries.

If you feel that your organization would benefit from a refresher training on the Community Health Record or Notify tool, please contact the help desk at helpdesk@hawaiihie.org.
Thank you!
